NFL Notes: Jon Gruden, Browns, Jets, Redskins, Steelers

Jon Gruden

  • Jason La Canfora reports that Jon Gruden is likely to remain with ESPN rather than pursue head coaching opportunities in the NFL and college.

Browns

According to Jay Glazer, Johnny Manziel‘s decision to attend the Cavaliers game rather than spend extra time preparing for the potential first start of his NFL career “epitomized” the concerns about him.

Jets

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Jets GM John Idzik has alienated those in the organization around him in the front office and on the coaching staff.

According to Schefter, “Idzik has not played the game of politics well, internally or externally, and it has cost him support in various areas.”

Redskins

Former Redskins ILB London Fletcher mentioned Sunday while appearing on CBS Sports Network that Jim Haslett is “clueless as a defensive coordinator.”

Mike Shanahan recognized early that this guy does not know what he’s doing,” Fletcher said, via Dan Steinberg. “Jay Gruden better get him out the door, because he’s probably backstabbing Jay Gruden like he did everybody else.

Steelers

  • The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing a tough decision regarding CB Cortez Allen, as he has a $3 million roster bonus due on fifth day of free agency. (Adam Caplan)
