NFL Notes: Julio Jones, Ray Rice, Tom Brady, & Jets

Julio Jones

Ian Rapoport reports that thereโ€™s still no word regarding a long-term extension for Falcons WR Julio Jones.

However, Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff mentioned that discussions up to this point have been the most โ€œprofessional and team cognizant contract approach heโ€™s seen.โ€

Ray Rice

Texans owner Bob McNair was about the possibility of signing free agent RB Ray Rice on Thursday.

โ€œWe have four good running backs I donโ€™t know that heโ€™s better than them,โ€ McNair replied, per Aaron Wilson.

McNair added that heโ€™s isnโ€™t sure Rice would be a fit in the teamโ€™s locker room, per Wilson.

Tom Brady

  • Andrew Brandt mentions that the court order shows that both the NFL and Tom Bradyโ€˜s reps will meet again in conference next Wednesday.
However, neither Brady nor Goodell are required to attend the hearing.

Jets

  • According to Josina Anderson, the Jets plan to โ€œtake a lookโ€ at their quarterback situation shortly after returning from tonightโ€™s preseason game.
