NFL Notes: Kareem Hunt, NFLPA, Pro Bowl

Kareem Hunt

Per ESPN’s Jake Trotter, Browns RB Kareem Hunt admitted to the police officer on scene he would have failed a drug test after being pulled over and having marijuana seized from his car: “It’s the offseason. Sorry I was having a good time.”

Hunt also had an open container of vodka in the car which the officer declined to write him a ticket for, saying he hoped Hunt would do better with his second chance. Hunt told him this week was tough watching his former team in the Super Bowl.

“I should be playing for a freaking Super Bowl. It hurts my soul,” Hunt said “Like you don’t understand I’ve been fighting a lot of s— lately, man. It still hurts me to this day. I love Cleveland, I love the Browns, but you don’t understand, I’m just the worst person in the world sometimes, like I guess. And I don’t even do nothing. Try to help everybody.”

NFLPA

  • Per Ken Belson of the New York Times, Seahawks OT Russell Okung has announced his candidacy to run to replace current NFLPA president Eric Winston when the latter’s term ends in March.
  • If elected president, Okung said he plans to take a harder stance with the owners on collective bargaining issues, including opposing a potential expansion to a 17-game regular season: “Are we in an equitable agreement with management? Right now, the answer is no. This will take as long as it needs to.”

Pro Bowl

  • According to CNBC’s Jabari Young, the NFL could be considering moving the Pro Bowl to Las Vegas or Los Angeles in the coming years.
  • The Pro Bowl has been on a year-to-year agreement with Orlando and has also been hosted in Arizona since moving from its permanent home in Hawaii in 2013.
