NFL Notes: Lions, Packers, Raiders

Lions

  • According to Michael Rothstein, it would be very surprising to see DT Haloti Ngata return from injured reserve this season.
  • Rothstein says that nothing he’s heard up to this point would lead him to believe Ngata returning is a possibility, even though he has been hanging around the locker room/facility a lot.

Packers

Packers backup QB Joe Callahan says he’s ready to go if something were to happen with Brett Hundley.

“You know, I feel good. It’s my second year in the offense, and the past couple weeks I’ve really been in tune with the game plan,” Callahan said, via Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal. “If anything were to happen, I’m ready to go. I’m preparing like I’m one play away.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy added that Callahan has looked good in practice and shown good improvement in year two.

“If you’d have seen the team drills [the other] day, he had three big-time go-route balls — deep, deep balls,” McCarthy said. “Clearly I think Joe’s deep ball has gotten a lot better throughout the year. He’s comfortable running the offense, does a great job running the opponent stuff, so he’s definitely progressed.

Raiders

Raiders HC Jack Del Rio says he’s liked the way RB Marshawn Lynch has responded in recent weeks after he was suspended one game for contacting an official.

“I just like the way he came back from that whole suspension,” said Del Rio, via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.

“I think he’s come back with real zest, real exuberance to run the ball and to be on point with things. I like the way he’s approached it. I think he’s getting a better feel for what we want to do with him, and we’re getting a better feel for what we can do with him. I think since he’s come back he’s been really good.”
