NFL Notes: Michael Sam, Draft, Eagles, Patriots, & Rams

Michael Sam

Former Rams draft pick DE Michael Sam said via his Twitter account that he plans to give the NFL “one more shot.”

I’m going to give it one more shot,” Sam said in response to a question on Twitter.

Draft

  • Tony Pauline reports that hopes are Notre Dame LB Jaylon Smith’s recovery from a serious knee injury will run parallel to that of Bengals OT Cedric Oghuehi, who was ready midway through the season.
  • According to Pauline, the Jets spent a lot of time Wednesday morning with Boise State S Darian Thompson. Pauline has him graded as a second- or third-round prospect.

Eagles

  • Geoff Mosher believes that the contract Vikings DE Everson Griffen received of five years for $42.5 million is a good model for Eagles DE Vinny Curry.
  • Curry’s production has mirrored his production through his first four seasons with 16.5 sacks to  Griffen’s 17.5; Griffen went on to post double sack digits his following two seasons.

Patriots

Rams

  • The University of California-Irvine is a strong candidate to hose the Rams’ training camp in 2016. (Alex Marvez)
