NFL Notes: Robert Griffin III, Rams, Saints, Seahawks, Texans

Robert Griffin III

ESPN’s Matt Williamson (insider) takes a look at four teams he believes should pursue a trade for Washington QB Robert Griffin III.

  • According to Williamson, this group consists of: the Bills, Chiefs, Jets and Rams.
  • Williamson mentions that the Cowboys and Eagles may also make sense, he doesn’t see any way Washington trades RGIII within the NFC East.
  • Williamson suggests compensation for Griffin could be anywhere from a late second-round pick to a fourth-round selection.

Rams

  • Field Yates of ESPN (insider) writes that the St. Louis Rams should consider trading up for a quarterback in next year’s draft.

Saints

Peter King of MMQB.com recently mentioned that Saints HC Sean Payton could consider stepping down after the season.

“This is his ninth year,” King said. “A lot of times a coach gets to be in his ninth, 10th, 11th year in a place and he starts to feel a little bit of wanderlust, he starts to feel, ‘Are they still listening to my voice, are they still getting my message?

However, Payton shut this idea down on Thursday while speaking to repoters.

“No way,” Payton said, via Katherine Terrell of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “You have to consider the source.

Ouch.

Seahawks

  • Field Yates (insider) expects Seahawks DC Dan Quinn to once again be among the most coveted head coaching candidates next year.

Texans
