NFL Notes: Broncos, Packers & Texans

Broncos

  • Troy Renck expects fully expects running backs Ronnie Hillman and fourth-round pick Devontae Booker to make the Broncos’ 53-man roster, which should come as much of a surprise.
  • Although, Renck wonders whether Denver will keep second-year RB Kapri Bibbs or an extra fullback on their active roster.

Packers

Packers free agent acquisition TE Jared Cook said that it will be exciting to play along with QB Aaron Rodgers this year.

Just seeing what he’s done with the tight ends the previous years, and how they’ve grown in that system and gotten better from playing with him is exciting,” Cook said, via the Gwinnett Daily Post. “I look forward to being a sponge. As I’ve already been in OTAs, learning and being a part of this type of offense. As well as my offensive coordinator and other coaches — because they’ve been places I’ve never been. It’s been eight years and I’ve never even smelled a playoff game.”

Cook added that he’s now fully healthy after undergoing a foot procedure a few months ago.

Texans

Texans receivers coach Sean Ryan mentioned that third-round WR Braxton Miller has been a quick study in his first few months with the team.

“Yeah, I think the thing with him is he works at it he wants to pick things up,” Ryan said, via the Houston Chronicle. “He wants to be good. I think he’s got a little chip on his shoulder understanding that there were some people out there that thought there would be this large learning curve for him and weren’t sure about him being a receiver.

“I think that helps to fuel him and he’s a competitive guy. He wants to learn and he’s smart enough to learn and those are the two biggest factors to me.”

Aaron Wilson writes that the Texans envision Miller having a “multidimensional” role in their offense, which could lead to him lining up at several receiver positions along with returning kicks on special teams.
