49ers

Former 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore mentioned during a recent interview that he was “shocked” GM Trent Baalke drafted him in 2013.

“I went out there and put a smile a smile on my face like everything was alright,” Lattimore said about his time with the 49ers, via SB Nation. “But it was hell. Every day.

“I mean, why would you take a running back with two horrible knee injuries?” Lattimore said. “I did pretty good, I played good in college, but if I’m a GM I don’t think I would do it.

Lattimore added that even though his coaches were encouraging throughout practices, it was clear that he wasn’t the same player.

My running backs coach was like, ‘Good job! Good job!’” Lattimore said. “My offensive coordinator — I was catching balls out of the backfield — was like, ‘Man you look good!’ I was like, ‘You have no clue.‘”

Buccaneers

The high school football coach, Scott Cloninger, for Buccaneers CB C.J. Wilson mentioned that he spoke to Wilson on Monday about the recent fireworks accident that cost him two of his fingers.

“I talked to him on Monday and he has a very positive spirit,’’ said Cloninger, via the Tampa Bay Tribune. “His comment was, he’s going to fight through this and get back to Tampa Bay and continue his career.’’
