NFL Notes: Draft, Falcons, Packers, & Vikings

Draft

  • Tony Pauline reports that a number of teams at the East/West Shrine Game grade Kevin Dodd ahead of his Clemson teammate, Shaq Lawson, who is considered a mid-first round pick. According to Pauline, the consensus is Lawson is being overrated while Dodd is underrated.
  • Pauline has spoken to scouts who believe good pro-day workouts could push Florida State S Lamarcus Brutus into the last day of the draft.
  • According to Pauline, there are also some who view Southern Utah CB LeShaun Sims more favorably than his more heralded teammate S Miles Killebrew.

Falcons

Packers

  • Tony Pauline reports that Packers GM Ted Thompson spent a lot of time scouting the linebackers during the first Shrine Game practice on Monday.
  • Sources have told Pauline that the Packers really likes Mississippi State LB Beniquez Brown, who Pauline has as a third round pick.

Vikings

  • Mary Kay Cabot reports that Vikings RBs coach Kirby Wilson is expected to interview for the Browns’ running-game coordinator job on Tuesday.
