Ian Rapoport reports that the NFL has officially set the 2019 salary cap at $188.2 million.
Projections from last year mentioned that the 2019 salary cap was expected to fall between $187 million – $191.1 million, so this isn’t a big surprise.
This is up from the $177.2 million per team for the 2018 season. This represents a one-year increase of 6.2 percent.
The salary cap has been on the rise for the past several seasons after remaining flat for the first few years of the current collective bargaining agreement.
NFL teams are required to spend 89 percent of their cap and cash spending has to be 95 percent of the salary cap limit over a period of four years or the difference will go to the union, who would distribute the money between the players.
