It’s been widely assumed that both Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert will be gone within the first picks of the draft on Thursday but NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi mentions that there’s a chance that he falls out of the top ten.
Lombari reports that the San Francisco 49ers have “lukewarm” interest in Gabbert which means that if he’s on the board at No. 7, there’s a good chance that they could go in a different direction rather like cornerback or defensive end.
Mike Mayock doen’t see Gabbert falling any lower than No. 8 which is held by the Titans.
I’d have to agree with Mayock that there’s really no chance that the Bills, Bengals, Cardinals, 49ers and Titans all pass on him. Other quarterbacks have fallen in the past like Aaron Rodgers and Dan Marino but there are just to many teams that are in need of a quarterback to pass on one of the best prospects at the position.
