NFL Rumors: Titans Considering Ryan Mallett?

The Titans quarterback position has been subject to numerous rumors since the season has ended but many of them have the team trading or signing a veteran quarterback rather than drafting one in the upcoming draft.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that the Titans have setup a pre-draft visit with Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett for April 12-13 and adds that the team sent two rep’s to his Pro Day last week.

While this isn’t the most concrete evidence of Tennessee’s interest, it does suggest that the team is at least considering him at some point in the draft.

Last week Bucky Brooks of NFL.com mentioned that Mallett had done enough during his Pro Day to be considered a first-round pick. Despite the positive reviews, many draft experts haven’t adjusted Malletts stock to show any sort of increase in value.

The Titans have the No. 8 overall pick which makes the idea that they would take Mallett in the first-round seem pretty far-fetched but they may have a shot at him in the second-round depending on how things play out. If he makes it past Miami at No. 15, the Jacksonville Jagaurs and the Seattle Seahawks are the only other teams that have needs at the quarterback position so there’s a chance that he could be there at No. 39 or they could trade up for him.
