Nick Foles Not Expected To Be Back With Eagles Next Year

According to Ian Rapoport, the Eagles have two options with Nick Foles after the season.

The first is that they could pick up his 2019 option. However, it’s a mutual option and Foles could simply pay back $2 million in order to become a free agent.

The second option the Eagles have would be to franchise Foles and attempt to trade him to another team.

“It’s clear he’s not going to be in Philly, but really how they send him to another team or into free agency is going to be a big story this offseason,” Rapoport said.

The Eagles have maintained that Carson Wentz is their quarterback of the future, so it shouldn’t come as a big surprise to hear that they’re expected to part ways with Foles next year.

It will, however, be interesting if the Eagles get into the playoffs and Foles continues to deliver for them in big games.

Foles, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. Philadelphia traded Foles to the Rams back in 2015 in a deal for QB Sam Bradford and he later signed an extension with the Rams.

Unfortunately, Foles lasted just over a year with the Rams before he was released last summer and later signed by the Chiefs. The Eagles signed Foles to a two-year, $11 million contract that includes $7 million guaranteed this past March.

Foles was set to make a base salary of $4 million in 2018 when he agreed to a restructured contract this offseason.

In 2018, Foles has appeared in four games and thrown for 1,192 yards while completing 69.8 percent of his passes to go along with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

We have him featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
