Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Re-Injures Calf, Could Linger Throughout Playoffs

Update:

Following Sunday’s game, Aaron Rodgers told reporters that his calf injury is in a different location than the injury he sustained against Buccaneers last week, per Ed Werder.

Rodgers said that his return was motivated by the fact that a loss would mean playing just a week later and a win would give him close to two weeks to get healed, per Werder.

Aaron Rodgers has returned to Sunday’s game and led them on a scoring drive that resulted in a touchdown.

Rodgers is clearly favoring his calf, but it’s apparently not bad enough to prevent him from toughing it out.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was carted off to the locker room after he re-injured his calf injury during the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Lions.

As of now, the Packers have said he return is questionable, but Rodgers was clearly in a great deal of pain, even though he managed to throw a touchdown pass on that play.

Former NFL physician, David Chao, mentions that although he can’t determine the severity of Rodgers’ injury, he believes it could “easily linger beyond a bye week.

  • Chao adds that Rodgers could still play through the injury, but his mobility could be impacted throughout the playoffs.
  • However, Chao does not expect this injury to be season-ending.

Green Bay is playing for the NFC North, so a win over the Lions would be crucial for Rodgers as it would give him an extra week to heal.

Matt Flynn has replaced Rodgers as the team’s starting quarterback, but the Packers did active Scott Tolzien for today’s game.

We’ll have more updates regarding Rodgers’ injury as the news is available.
