Packers Releasing RB Christine Michael

Adam Schefter and Field Yates are reporting that the Packers plan to release RB Christine Michael.

This comes shortly after the team placed RB Don Jackson on waivers.

The Packers are clearly focused on giving their three draft picks — Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones, and Devante Mays — more of an opportunity to compete for roster spots this summer.

Michael, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2013. He was traded to the Cowboys at the start of the season for a conditional seventh-round pick.

He was in the third year of his four-year, $3.374 million rookie contract when the Cowboys cut him last year. After clearing waivers, the Redskins signed him to their practice squad before releasing him in December.

The Seahawks elected to bring Michael back in 2015 and he later returned to Seattle on a one-year, $765,000 contract. Unfortunately, the Seahawks cut him loose during the season and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Packers.

Green Bay brought Michael back on a one-year contract that included $25,000 guaranteed this past March.

In 2016, Michael appeared in 15 games between the Seahawks and Packers and rushed for 583 yards on 148 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with 22 receptions for 107 yards receiving and eight total touchdowns.
