Packers Tried To Trade For Giants DL Dalvin Tomlinson

According to Ian Rapoport, the Packers made a run at Giants DL Dalvin Tomlinson in trade talks ahead of the deadline.

Rapoport says Green Bay was willing to give up a mid-round pick for Tomlinson, who is one of the stouter run defenders in the league and would have addressed a big issue for the Packers.

He’s also in the final year of his contract and might not re-up with New York.

However, he’s also a team captain and Rapoport says the Giants were resistant to the idea of dealing him.

Tomlinson, 26, was selected in the second round out of Alabama by the Giants in 2017. He’s in the final year of a four-year rookie contract worth $4,572,102, which included a signing bonus of $1,465,164.

In 2020, Tomlinson has appeared in eight games for the Giants and recorded 33 total tackles, one sack and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 14 interior defender out of 120 qualifying players.
