Panthers Hire Dave Gettleman as GM

The Panthers have announced that they’ve signed Dave Gettleman to be their next general manager, according to the team’s website.

“I was very impressed with Dave’s experience and think he will be a very good fit for our organization,” said Panthers Owner Jerry Richardson. “He has an extensive background in personnel and comes from an organization in the New York Giants that I hold in high regard and played an instrumental role in their success.”

Gettleman previously worked with the Giants for 13 years as the team’s Director of Pro Personnel, so he has experience in terms of evaluating franchise quarterbacks and building Super Bowl winning rosters.

Carolina was reportedly considering interim GM Brandon Beane, Titans V.P. of player personnel Lake Dawson, Vikings assistant GM George Paton, Montreal Alouettes GM Jim Popp, and Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross for the job.
