Panthers Looking To Trade For Secondary Help?

Joe Person of The Athletic reports that the Carolina Panthers have been making calls to teams regarding trades for secondary help.

Trade activity is expected to pick up quite a bit over the next week, as teams prepare to cut their rosters down 53 players.

The Panthers’ secondary was clearly a question mark for the team after losing James Bradberry in free agency. As of now, Carolina is projected to have Donte Jackson and Eli Apple at corner with Tre Boston, rookie Jeremy Chinn at safety.

Last week, our Logan Ulrich mentioned Chargers CB Desmond King as a potential trade candidate to keep an eye in the coming weeks, given that his role in Los Angeles is in question following the addition of Chris Harris.

In terms of the free agent market, the best available cornerbacks include Logan Ryan, Tramon Williams, Javien Elliott, Trumaine Johnson, Brandon Carr, Aqib Talib, Morris Claiborne, B.W. Webb, and Ross Cockrell.

If the Panthers are looking for safety, some names to keep an eye include Earl Thomas, Eric Reid, Reshad Jones, Tony Jefferson, Clayton Geathers, Morgan Burnett and Jahleel Addae.

We’ll have more regarding the Panthers as the news is available.
