Panthers Signing DE Bruce Irvin To One-Year Deal

Adam Schefter reports that the Panthers have agreed to a one-year contract with veteran DE Bruce Irvin on Tuesday.

Irvin should be a good value signing for the Panthers at this point in free agency.

Irvin, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He spent four years in Seattle before signing a four-year, $37 million contract that included $19 million guaranteed with the Raiders in 2016.

Irvin was set to make base salaries of $8 million and $9 million over the remaining two years of the agreement when the Raiders waived him last year. He later signed on with the Falcons and finished out the season in Atlanta.

In 2018, Irvin appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and Falcons and recorded 19 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 83 edge rusher out of 103 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.
