Pelissero says the former UNLV, Sacramento State and Washington quarterback skipped an eighth season of eligibility to declare for the draft.

He adds the Panthers pounced with an invite as soon as Thomson went undrafted.

Thomson, 6-0 and 198 pounds, started his career at UNLV but did not see any game action after red-shirting his first year and being a backup his second.

He transferred to Sacramento State where he spent the next four seasons. He transferred to Washington as a graduate transfer but did not see any game action. He elected to forego his final year of covid eligibility to declare for the draft.

At Sacramento State, Thomson completed 57.3 percent of his passes for 6,424 yards (8.3 YPA), 52 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 27 games.
