Panthers Waive G Bryan Witzmann

According to Tom Pelissero, the Panthers are waiving G Bryan Witzmann from the active roster Tuesday.

Witzmann is a veteran but will be subject to waivers since the trade deadline has passed. The move creates space for CB Corn Elder on the active roster.

Witzmann, 29, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State back in 2014. He lasted just over a year in Houston before signing on to the Saints’ practice squad a few weeks into the 2015 season.

New Orleans elected to bring him back on a future/reserve contract, but he was unfortunately waived a few weeks after the 2016 draft. Witzmann had brief stints with the Cowboys, Chiefs, Vikings and Bears before signing a one-year contract with the Browns this past March.

Cleveland released Witzmann coming out of the preseason. He had a brief stint with the Dolphins before signing with the Panthers at the end of September.

In 2018, Witzmann appeared in 10 games for the Bears and made seven starts.
