Panthers Want To Get Extension Done With OT Taylor Moton Before Deadline

Joe Person of The Athletic reports that the Panthers want to get a long-term extension in place for franchise OT Taylor Moton before the July 15 deadline.

This comes shortly after the Saints signed RT Ryan Ramczyk to a five-year, $96 million extension that included $60 million guaranteed. Ramczyk is now the highest-paid right tackle in the NFL so this deal will likely factor into the talks between Moton’s reps and the Panthers.

Carolina franchised Moton several months ago and would be on the hook for $13.754 fully guaranteed this season if they can’t get an extension in place.

Moton, 27, was drafted by the Panthers in the second round out of Western Michigan in 2017. He’s set to be an unrestricted free agent after finishing his four-year, $4.158 million rookie deal that paid him a base salary of $1.032 million last season.

In 2020, Moton appeared in all 16 games at right tackle for the Panthers. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 13 overall tackle out of 79 players.
