Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports that the Panthers worked out defensive linemen James DeLoach and Ray Drew on Monday.
- However, Person adds that the Panthers are not expected to sign either player at this point.
Carolina reportedly brought in four players for tryouts today, but these are the only names we’ve come across as of now.
Drew, 23, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia back in May of last year. He was among their early roster cuts, but later signed on to the Browns’ practice squad in October.
Cleveland elected to cut him loose less than a month later. Drew later caught on with the Packers in March before being released in the days leading up to this year’s draft.
Drew has yet to appear in an NFL game.
During his four-year college career, Drew recorded 113 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, a force fumble, a recovery and three pass defenses.
