According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots are bringing in free agent RB’s Ryan Grant and Tim Hightower for a workout on Friday.

Earlier in the week, reports suggested that Grant could be close to signing with a new team in the coming days, but they weren’t able to specifically name who that team might be. The Patriots allowed BenJarvus Green-Ellis to leave during free agency, but are reportedly willing to move forward with Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen, but Bill Belichick loves to bring in veteran players to round his roster, so there’s a chance that one of the could sign a low-cost one-year deal that will give them a chance to compete for a roster spot.

The Redskins have said that they would like to keep Hightower, but there hasn’t been a lot of incentive to do so considering that the NFL draft is less than one week away.

Green Bay previously mentioned that they would consider signing Grant at a later point, they too have shown no interest in getting something done now.
