Patriots Dropping Tampering Charges Against Texans, Houston No Longer Pursuing Nick Caserio

The Houston Texans announced Friday that the Patriots have decided to drop the tampering charges against them for their interest in executive Nick Caserio

The Texans announced that they will no longer pursue Caserio for their GM vacancy.

The Patriots issued the following statement regarding the matter:

Shortly after tampering charges were filed by the Patriots, reports mentioned that the situation between the two teams could be resolved by the Texans parting with draft compensation for Caserio. However, it appears as though Houston was unwilling to go that route.

There was some speculation that the Texans could keep their current power structure in place for the 2019 season before attempting to hire Caserio next year.

As of now, the Texans have interviewed former Browns GM Ray Farmer and 49ers executive Martin Mayhew for their GM position. It’s possible more names will be added to the mix in the coming weeks.

We’ll have more regarding the Texans’ GM search as the news is available.
