According to Field Yates, the Patriots have released WR Maurice Harris.
Harris reportedly impressed the team early in training camp. But a combination of a toe injury plus other Patriots wide receivers returning to health squeezed the veteran off the roster.
Harris, 26, wound up signing on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of California back in 2016. He has been on and off of the Redskins’ active roster the past few years, but managed to make the 53-man roster in 2018.
The Redskins declined to tender Harris a restricted offer this offseason and he signed with the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2018, Harris appeared in 12 games for the Redskins and caught 28 passes for 304 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also rushed for 10 yards and had 11 punt return yards.
