Field Yates reports that the Patriots and S Patrick Chung have agreed to a one-year extension through 2021.
According to Albert Breer, Chung’s new deal is worth $12.9 million over three years and includes $6 million in new money and $4 million to sign.
Chung still had another two years left on his contract, but it appears as though Patriots felt it was best to add a year to his current deal.
Chung, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2009. He spent four years in New England before departing for a three-year deal with the Eagles in 2014.
Chung lasted just a year in Philadelphia before he released and later re-signed by the Patriots. Chung was entering the second year of his three-year, $10.2 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $2.4 million and $2.4 million over the next two years.
In 2018, Chung appeared in 15 games for the Patriots and recorded 84 tackles, a half sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and three pass defenses.
