Patriots Tried Out Four Players

The New England Patriots brought in four players for tryouts and visits on Sunday, according to Albert Breer.

The full list of tryouts for the Patriots includes:

  1. G Ben Braden
  2. TE Paul Butler
  3. TE Alex Ellis
  4. NT Greg Gilmore

Butler, 26, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of California (PA) back in 2018. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later re-signed to the Raiders’ practice squad.

The Raiders eventually promoted Butler to their active roster in December. However, he was waived with an injury designation and later reverted to the team’s injured reserve list.

The Lions signed Butler to a futures contract after the season but cut him loose following this year’s draft. He was later claimed by the Raiders before being waived a month later.

During the preseason, Butler caught four passes for 24 yards and no touchdowns for the Raiders.
