Plaxico Burress Not Expected To Be Back With The Jets Next Season

Giants RB Brandon Jacobs spoke freely with reporters about his good friend Plaxico Burress.

Jacobs was asked whether or not he thought Burress would like to join the Giants to which he responded; “Oh, no question, I know he did. I know he wanted to come to the Giants. We just didn’t think it was going to be able to be done financially. But he may be (back) next year, who knows?”

ESPN New York reports that a source close to Burress has informed them that he has “serious questions” about Mark Sanchez‘s overall ability to play the quarterback position.

Jacobs also mentioned that he can’t see Burress returning to the Jets next season.

I don’t see him back with the Jets next year at all,” said Jacobs. “I don’t know what he’s thinking, but I don’t see that. They’ve got a lot of things going on over there, and I don’t know if he wants to be part of that.”

The team has already said that they plan to get younger at the receiver position which is a good of an indication as any that Burress is not a part of their future plans. Burress did manage to catch 8 touchdowns for the Jets so he’ll find work somewhere but in a limited role.
