According to Brian McIntyre of Mac’s Football Blog, the Oakland Raiders have restructured the contracts of DT Richard Seymour and S Michael Huff.
McIntyre’s league source mentions that the Raiders lowered Seymour’s $7.5 million fully guaranteed base salary down to $925,000, which is the league minimum, and converted the remaining money into a guaranteed roster bonus. On top of that, Seymour gets an extra year added on to his current deal.
As for Huff, his salary was also reduced to the minimum ($700,000) and the remainder was then added to his roster bonus and treated like signing bonus. Huff also gets an extra two-years added to his contract that will pay $4 million in each season along with a $4 million roster bonus for both years.
These moves will save the team $11.82 million in cap room for the 2012 season. Oakland can turn their attention to Kamerion Wimbley has outrageous contract next.
