Raiders Hiring Mike Mayock As New GM

Adam Schefter reports that the Raiders are hiring NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock as their general manager.

Yesterday, Mike Garafolo reports that Mayock had emerged as a “strong candidate” for the Raiders’ GM position after interviewing for the position.

The Raiders were in the process of replacing Reggie McKenzie and it appears as though they settled on Mayock.

A few years ago, Mayock surfaced as a candidate for the Redskins’ GM position before they hired Doug Williams.

Mayock, 60, played a few years in the NFL for the Steelers and Giants. He began his broadcasting career in 2005 with the NFL Network and has worked for a number of other networks calling games.

Mayock doesn’t have any personnel experience for NFL teams but has been a widely respected draft analyst for several years now.
