Raiders Have Made Contract Offer To Khalil Mack

Vic Tafur of the Athletic reports that the Raiders have made LBย Khalil Mack a contract offer and his representativesย are currently looking over the offer.

Mack is in position to secure one of the largest contracts for a defensive player in league history.

Last year,ย Mack mentioned during an interview withย Fallon Smith NBC Sports Bay Area that he’s hoping to remain with the team that drafted him for the rest of his career.

โ€œOf course. Thatโ€™s not even a question,โ€ Mack said. โ€œThatโ€™s a no-brainer for me, especially when you think about coming into this organization and try to build something special, thatโ€™s something you want to be a part of for a lifetimeโ€

Mack, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Raiders back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $18,677,002 contract when Oakland picked up hisย fifth-year option last April.

Mack will now make a base salary of $13,846,000 under his fifth-year option before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2017, Mack appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and recorded 78 tackles, 10.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 edge defender out of 106 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding an extension for Mack as the news is available.
