Michael Gehlken reports that the Raiders are re-signing DE Kony Ealy on Wednesday after some injuries to their defensive line.
Ealy, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3.546 million contract that included $1.249 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $803,660 for the 2017 season.
The Panthers traded Ealy and a 2017 third-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for a second-round pick back in March. However, it didn’t work out for Ealy in New England and he was waived coming out of the preseason.
Since then, Ealy has had stints with the Jets and Cowboys before signing on with the Raiders last month. Oakland waived him a week later.
In 2017, Ealy appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded 14 tackles, one sack, an interception and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 61 edge rusher out of 106 qualifying players.
