Raiders Waive QB Garrett Gilbert & WR Andre Debose

The Oakland Raiders officially placed WR Andre Debose and QB Garrett Gilbert on waivers Tuesday to make room for WRs Nathan Palmer and Robert Herron.

Debose was waived with the injury designation, which means that he would revert to their injured reserve list of he ends up clearing waivers on Wednesday.

With the Raiders using a fourth-round pick on Connor Cook, it was clear that Gilbert was facing long odds of making the team this season.

Gilbert, 24, is a former sixth round pick of the Rams. However, his time in St. Louis was short lived as he was waived at the start of the 2014 season before later signing to the Rams’ practice squad.

After a brief stint with the Patriots, Gilbert was later claimed by the Lions. Unfortunately, Gilbert was unable to make the Lions’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason last year, but spent the entire 2015 season on the Raiders’ practice squad.

Gilbert has yet to appear in an NFL game.
