Rams Expected To Meet With RB Steven Jackson Regarding An Extension

Jim Thomas of the St Louis Post-Dispatch reports that league sources have informed him that the Rams are expected to meet with RB Steven Jackson‘s representation at the Scouting Combine.

Jackson, 30, has a $7 million option for the 2013 season, but the expectation is that he’ll ultimately to void his contract and become an unrestricted free agent. It’s worth noting that both parties are believed to have mutual interest in coming to an agreement on a contract extension.

Thomas notes that St Louis wouldn’t be able to retain Jackson under the $7 million figure. Jackson would only void his deal under the assumption that he would be able to secure more guaranteed cash in his next deal.

The Packers, Steelers and Falcons have all been mentioned as potential suitors if he ends up testing the open market.
