Rams Offered Raiders “Aggressive Package” For Khalil Mack

Rams COO Kevin Demoff admitted that they tried to trade for Khalil Mack last week, but the Raiders weren’t interested in their draft picks because they’re likely to be drafting too low.

“We offered a pretty aggressive package and they came back and said, ‘We just think you’re going to pick too low,‘” Demoff said, via Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.

The Rams have been the most aggressive team in terms of seeking upgrades the past eight months. That includes trading for two cornerbacks, signing Ndamukong Suh, acquiring Brandin Cooks and checking in on a trade for Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr among other moves.

Los Angeles already has an impressive defensive front, but they could have been unstoppable with Mack.

It also would have been tough to sign Mack long-term, seeing as they just signed Aaron Donald to a record contract, but even that wasn’t enough to persuade them from checking in a potential deal.

In the end, the Bears proved to be the Raiders best option and Oakland walked away with two first-round picks in return for Mack.
