Rams Sticking With Case Keenum As Starting QB For Week 10

Rams HC Jeff Fisher announced Monday that Case Keenum will remain the team’s starting quarterback for Week 10’s game against the Jets.

It seemed like this could be a good time make the move and start No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff, but Fisher says that Keenum still gives them their best shot at winning.

“Jared’s improving,” Fisher said, per Myles Simmons. “But Case, right now, especially against this defense, gives us our best chance.”

Keenum, 28, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Houston back in 2013. He spent two years with the Texans before he was claimed off of waivers by the Rams.

He later returned to the Texans before being traded to the Rams for a 2016 seventh-round pick. The Rams elected to use a first-round tender on Keenum several months ago will pay him $3.635 million for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Keenum has appeared in seven games and completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 2,004 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 27 quarterback out of 33 qualifying players.
