Eagles & Jets Have Interest In Randy Moss?

Earlier in the day we learned that Randy Moss is looking for a new team and a chance to return to the NFL. Well, Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports reports sources close to Moss believes that the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets “are at least curious” about the idea of bringing him in.

Moss could be in a similar situation as Plaxico Burress was last season when he got a one year, $3 million deal from the New York Jets. Both teams had been rumored to have interest in Moss before he decided to retire last year. Cole also lists the 49ers and Patriots as being possible options as well.

The NFL’s #2 wide receiver in terms of total touchdowns, Randy Moss, chose to make an announcement on his 35th birthday via UStream.tv. Moss said that he’s ready to return to the NFL after sitting out for an entire season.

I just wanna go to a team and play some football,” said Moss. “I said I had a surprise for y’all.”

I guess this qualifies as a surprise but it seems to be a common trend to see players walk away from the game only to make a comeback year’s later. Hopefully for Moss, he finds more interest than Tiki Barber did last season because these stories can get real depressing.

Faith, family, and football, that’s my M.O., bro,” Moss said.  “Your boy be back for the upcoming season.”

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio writes that the Patriots should be considered as the “most obvious destination” assuming that he can still run.

New England has missed Moss’ ability to stretch the field in recent years but it’s hard to say whether or not Bill Belichick would be willing to bring back a player that he traded because of locker room issues. Still, it’s at least a scenario to watch for in the coming months.
