Peters, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2015. The Rams acquired him from the Chiefs in exchange for a 2018 fourth- and 2019 second-round pick.
Peters was entering the final year of his four-year, $9.584 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1,741,932 for the 2018 season when the Rams picked up his fifth-year option last year. He’ll now make a base salary of $9,069,000 for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2019, Peters has appeared in six games for the Rams and recorded 14 tackles, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.
