Ravens Open Contract Talks With OT Michael Oher

Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens have had “initial contract talks” with OT Michael Oher.

We’ve had some preliminary discussions with his agent,” said Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome.

Wilson adds that no deal is imminent at this point in time, but the team is expected to meet with Oher’s agent at some point in the future.

Offensive line has been one of the team’s troublesome areas in recent years, so it’s not surprising to see them reach out to one of their best players. It is worth noting that Pro Football Focus has Oher rated as the No. 42 best offensive tackle this season, which isn’t a great indication of him being worth a huge extension, but the Ravens could be looking for him to expect reasonable deal now instead of paying him market price when he becomes a free agent.
