Ravens Release Veteran OLB Jason Babin & CB Rashaan Melvin

The Baltimore Ravens announced a series of roster moves on Tuesday including the release of OLB Jason Babin and CB Rashaan Melvin.

Baltimore signed Babin to a contract shortly after they lost OLB Terrell Suggs to season-ending Achilles injury.

Babin, 34, signed a two-year, $3.25 million contract with the Jets last July and hid his option picked up back in February. However, he wound up being among the team’s final roster cuts at the start of the season.

This season, Babin has been active for just two games, but has yet to record a single statistic.

James, 25, was a standout on this year’s Hard Knocks while he was playing for the Texans. However, he wound up being among their final roster cuts at the start of the season.

James has not appeared in a regular season game since 2013. During that season, he played in 12 games for four total tackles. James has ranked as the No. 138 cornerback, but has piled up 135 total snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

Jackson, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2012. He spent the first three years of his career in Baltimore before he was waived as the team cut their roster down to 53 players this past weekend.

In 2014, Jackson appeared in seven games and recorded 28 tackels and three pass defenses for the Ravens.
