The NFL announced Tuesday that Redskins CB Simeon Thomas has been suspended four games for violating the leagueโs policy on substances of abuse.
Thomas’ four-game bane will likely roll over into the 2020 season, given that there are just three games remaining for the Redskins and Washington is unlikely to make the playoffs.
Thomas, 26, was a sixth-round pick by the Browns out of Louisiana Lafayette in 2018. He signed a four-year rookie contract worth $2.561 million that includes a $148,878 signing bonus.
Cleveland waived Thomas and he was quickly claimed off waivers by the Seahawks. He re-signed in Seattle on a futures deal for the 2019 season, but was waived during roster cuts and again re-signed to the practice squad.
The Redskins signed Thomas to their active roster soon after.
In 2019, Thomas appeared in 12 games for the Redskins and recorded eight tackles and no interceptions.
