Redskins Getting Trade Calls For No. 2 Pick

According to Ian Rapoport, the Redskins have received trade inquiries regarding the No. 2 overall pick.

While Washington isn’t intent on moving down, Rapoport says the team has been willing to listen as other teams call to try and lay groundwork ahead of the draft.

The Redskins have been increasingly linked to Ohio State DE Chase Young, who’s seen as possibly the best player in the draft and is a Maryland native.

However, if a team offers a massive package, it’s possible that could tempt the rebuilding Redskins to pull the trigger, as they’re not just one player away as good as Young is.

Whether or not a team will meet that asking price before the Redskins go on the clock remains to be seen. Once Washington is on the clock, HC Ron Rivera has remarked that he doesn’t anticipate a long wait before turning in their pick.

Young was one of the best players in college football last year and was in the discussion for the Heisman even as a defensive player.

The expectation is that the Bengals will end up using the No. 1 overall pick on LSU Joe Burrow, which means Young could be headed to the Redskins at No. 2 overall.

For his college career, Young recorded 98 tackles, 30.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and eight pass defenses over the course of three seasons and 34 games.

We’ll have more on the Redskins as the news is available.
