Redskins Officially Name Rookie QB Dwayne Haskins Starter For Rest Of Season

Redskins interim HC Bill Callahan announced on Monday that first-round rookie QB Dwayne Haskins would be the team’s starter for the rest of the 2019 season, per John Keim

Haskins got his first start last weekend against the Bills. He’ll make his second start this week against the Jets as the Redskins come out of their bye week. Case Keenum and Colt McCoy will serve as the second and third-string quarterbacks respectively.

Haskins, 22, was selected by the Redskins with the No. 14 overall pick after many believed he would end up being a top-10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. According to OverTheCap.com, Haskins received a four-year, $14,416,600 rookie contract that includes $8,504,800 signing bonus.

Haskins’ contract includes a fifth-year option for the Redskins to pick up in 2022.

In 2019, Haskins has appeared in three games for the Redskins and completed 61.4 percent of his passes to go along with no touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also rushed for 37 yards.
