Redskins Open To Trading Down From No. 2 Overall?

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports says there’s a “distinct possibility” of the Redskins trading down from the No. 2 overall.

Ohio State DE Chase Young, who is viewed by some draft experts as a potential generational pass rusher, has been the most commonly linked player to the Redskins at No. 2.

However, La Canfora says it would likely come down to whether the Redskins would be able to get a similar package of draft picks to what they previously gave up to get Robert Griffin III.

La Canfora has heard that Washington has been “increasingly open” to the prospect of moving down in round one with Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons being a prospect that intrigues them.

JP Finlay says the idea of the Redskins dropping back makes sense, considering they have several needs. Even so, Finlay mentions that the hard part will be finding a team willing to offer them enough to pass on Young and the best he can tell right now is that this doesn’t exist.

If a team is going to trade up to No. 2 overall, it will almost certainly be for a quarterback such as Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. Although, there will be some serious questions about whether Tagovailoa is worth this kind of investment, considering the serious hip injury he suffered last year.

We’ll have more regarding the Redskins as the news is available.

  1. JLC can guess with the best of them. This is pure speculation and a guess. I think most of us know the Redskins would trade back if given the right deal. So would just about all the other teams.
Seriously, how does that guy still have a job?
