Redskins Release CB Tracy Porter, Free Up $2.3M In Cap Space

Update:

Washington officially announced the release of veteran CB Tracy Porter on Wednesday.

โ€”โ€”โ€“

Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins are releasing veteran CB Tracy Porter on Wednesday.

  • This comes shortly after the news that veteran G Chris Chester was also being released.

Porter, 28, had one year remaining on his two-year, $6 million contract that included $2 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $2.25 million for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Porter will free up $2,296,875 in available cap space while creating $1 million in dead money.

In 2014, Porter appeared in just three games for the Redskins and recorded five tackles and a pass defense, so itโ€™s really not surprising to see them move on and give some of their younger players an opportunity.
