Redskins Sign QB Colt McCoy To One-Year, $7M Extension

Ian Rapoport reports that the Redskins have signed QB Colt McCoy to a one-year extension worth $7 million through the 2019 season.

Rapoport adds that McCoy‘s contract includes a void and buyback provision.

McCoy, 31, is a former third-round pick out of Texas by the Browns back in 2010. He was entering the final year of a three-year, $9 million contract and is set to earn $2.8 million in 2018.

McCoy was traded from Cleveland to the 49ers back in 2013 and signed on with Washington as an unrestricted free agent in 2014. He actually played better than expected for them during his first year with the team before going down with a neck injury that led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve.

He’s seen some limited playing time while with Washington as the No. 2 quarterback behind Kirk Cousins during his time there.

In 2017, McCoy appeared in one game for the Redskins but did not record any statistics.
