Jordan Raanan of ESPN spoke with several sources around the NFL on Tuesday who were under the impression that anyone on the Giants’ defense was available for the right price.
The Giants have agreed to trade CB Eli Apple to the Saints and DT Damon Harrison to the Lions in the past two days.
Beyond that, there have been rumors circulating that teams are interested in Giants CB Janoris Jenkins while others have tossed out OLB Olivier Vernon and S Landon Collins as speculative trade options.
Jason La Canfora reported yesterday that the Apple trade by the Giants could be just the “tip of the iceberg.”
La Canfora reports that there’s a “strong perception” among other NFL teams that the Giants are “open for business” ahead of next week’s trade deadline and more moves could be coming.
The Giants are off to a disappointing 1-6 start to the season, so the odds of them turning things around and making a playoff push seem unlikely.
Beyond that, Giants GM Dave Gettleman has been working to reshape the roster since taking over and it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see him attempt to load up on trade picks in 2019 if the right deals are available.
We’ll have more regarding potential trades involving the Giants as the news is available.
