Report: Browns Expected To Offer HC Job To Mike Pettine

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Cleveland Browns are expected to offer Bills DC Mike Pettine their head coaching coach job.

  • Schefter adds that a deal still needs to be worked out, but has confirmed the news with multiple league sources.
  • Ian Rapoport also reports that the Browns are attempting to sign Pettine today, and are currently in the process of figuring out coordinators.
    • Rapoport adds that Pettine is the only candidate in town today, as far as he can tell.
  • Jason La Canfora reports that no deal has been struck and no final decision has been made regarding the Browns head coaching job.

There were some speculation that the Browns could go in a different direction and reports indicated that they had recently met with former Buccaneers HC Greg Schiano and spoke Patriots OC Josh McDaniels again.

Pettine is a solid defensive coach who spent time with Rex Ryan before joining the Bills staff last year. However, the Browns have missed out on a several of the candidates believed to be at the top of their list.

We’ll have more as the news is available.
