Mia Garcia of Fox 10 Arizona reports that Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington was arrested Friday on two counts of aggravated assault.
It was reported by ArizonaSports.com on Thursday that the Phoenix Police Department was investigating a claim that Washington was involved in a domestic dispute with a woman.
Washington, 26, has already been suspended for the first four games of upcoming season after he violated the league’s substance-abuse policy. It’s also worth noting that Washington signed a six-year, $32.5 million contract with the Cardinals last year, which includes a $10 million option bonus that will be due on the first day of the 2014 league year.
Last year, Washington was rated as the No. 3 best inside linebacker in the league by Pro Football Focus, so he’s clearly a very talented player, but you have to wonder whether or not the Cardinals will be willing to pick up his sizable option after all of this.
